scrapdaddytatum
so the car isnt runnning hot but the electric fan isnt running, the a/c is working but the fan still will not run, gave it 12v and it spun right up, i cant find a short, can the switch in the radiator prevent the fan from running, i thought the a/c made the fan run no matter what, this is my only running problem with this engine, and a manual switch is out of the ?, this thing needs to take care of it self, becouse the girl that drives it is unfornatly clueless, she allready cooked one motor, and didnt even notice the guages pegging out, any ideas what to look for
Meeky Moose
other option i thought of, just take the 2 wires that plug into the thermo sensor, and jumper them together.. this will make the fan come on when the key is on..
ru4x4ever
The wire jump thing will work but you dont want your fans on it will keep your car at a cooler temp with is ok but suppost to run around 185-190. I would replace the thermo sensor in radiator sholdent be too much $ 30 or so? then it will be done right, not ghetto:D but hey alot is a quick fix that has been left permenant for me
MilesFox
there is a wire that runs from the top frame to the radiator, that grounds the thermoswitch
Skip
Sorry to say that Donald (aka M.F.) is incorrect. He is thinking of an EA81 car or one without AC. The coolant thermo switch in these cars, does not depend on a radiator ground. As seen below the thermoswitch is a two wire affair, not a single pin as on the EA81 switches. It is possible the thermo switch is faulty (pull it's connector and jumper the contacts as a test) The diagram shows the fan relay. I have the detailed schematic if you need it. ref: FSM XT Hope this helps
