Skip Posted June 1, 2007 Share Posted June 1, 2007 Well long ago in a far away land the inner fender on my 94 Legacy wagon went south while me and the car stayed north. The result is the fuel lines coming from atop the fuel tank have rusted into yesterday. (The area is right inside, infront, of the rear drivers side wheel, you corn-fused as I am??) Fuel leaks are not only dangerous but costly!! Yep - drip drip drip go the pennies. Dumb question time: Is there an access plate somewhere under the rear carpet or seat or?? I do not want to drop the tank -rear diff bolts look as bad as the rest of the rust. If I can get my hands on the upper part of these steel lines I can cut them add rubber fuel injection lines to by pass the rusted sections. I would just go look but it is sooooo full of "stuff" if I knew where to look, I'd have a start. I'd hate to junk this girl for something so trivial. porcupine73 Posted June 1, 2007 Share Posted June 1, 2007 There are one or two access panels just behind the rear seats in the wagon; I'm not sure if these will give you access to what you need. The one on the RH side is usually where the fuel pump discharge, fuel return, and some other line go into...I have a pic somewhere here.... The rusted section is the end of the steel lines - far enough up as to not be reachable from below. 94 Legacy AWD wagon. is this AWD or Fwd? the fuel pump access is from the trunk/cargo area just behind the rear seat (on 95 - 99). AWD have 2 access panels since the gas tank strattles the rear diff. there are several fuel lines accessible there. from the wheel well, they go forward in the passenger comparment and run along the rocker panel on the driver's side to the front fender. i would think you could splice onto good fuel lines at the fuel pump access panel under the carpet in the trunk/cargo area. have you got good/sound fuel lines on the lower end, in the wheel well, before they enter the passenger compartment so you can splice on them? good luck. Skip, I'd flare the ends of the pipes to insure that the injection rated hose/clamps do not slide off the fuel pipe. This need not be done with a proper flare tool, but just insure that the end of the pipe is enlarged enough that it will not allow the hose to slide off. This is from a '96 Legacy wagon...I have a '94 Legacy wagon too but not sure if this thing is in the same spot? Anyway it doesn't sound like it's the access area you're looking for. Yes I am amazed too sometimes when you look up into the vehicle with a rear wheel off and see all those lines, hoses, and whatnots all rusted up in there...just enough room to see them... I bet that is the place, might be a bit different on a 94, these line are most definetly coming down the driver's side of the tank which the lines in your pict are pointing. They could start on the pass side and convert to steel before decending?? Then back to fuel line then back to steel then... I can't tell where it is from your photo. BTW I have never had the rear seat in the up position and somehow "stuff" just accumulates and takes refuse back there. For that matter it has migrated to the front passenger chair.
