mtsmiths
I'm visiting family on Maui and my brother in law and wife bought a Forester a couple years ago on my say so. They were saying they really like the car except for the damn front window wind noise. So after search, next time we rode together (last evening) I say "Roll down the windows" and I open the doors and grab the triangle channels and squeeze them and bend them in a bit. Then crossing my fingers I say, OK, all fixed. My BIL gives me this 'riiiigght' look. They were both thunderstruck when at 60 mph no noise at all. Mahalo, gang. Suzam
It's it nice when things workout like that? Especially in Hawaii. Aloha
Sweet82
Which part of the window was making the noise? Was it the part by the side view mirror? I have a similar issue and have not been able to figure it out yet.
powderhound
For a more permanent fix I put several layers of thin strips of duct tape along the window edge to "build up" the thickness of the window. It creates a tighter seal and no wind noise.

Search find here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4857&highlight=gusset I DIDN'T remove the interior gusset trim. I just grabbed the whole thing in both hands, s-q-u-e-e-z-e-d it with all my strength (I knew I couldn't really hurt anything :-\ ) and bent it all in toward the car a little. VOILA! no mo' wind pilikea, I now Maui Subaru big kahuna brah! Big Island next, then back to Oahu for big time alumni party from The Pretty One's high school class reunion (45 years ... AUWE!, we all stay old futs now).
justflick
IMHO, this deserves a bump. I picked up an '02 legacy that had some **WICKED** wind noise at 40mph+ Glad I tried this before shelling out for a gusset replacement or what-have-you. It's quiet as a ghost now
1 Lucky Texan
I have to do that gusset squeeze maneuver before any serious road trip. No luck training the wife to avoid pushing on the glass when closing the doors.

No luck training the wife to avoid pushing on the glass when closing the doors. try harder to do that - I actually broke a window by pushing the door shut that way once (not on a subaru - was a Caddy Eldorado) broke me of that habit right away! that little habit cost me more than $200 to replace that window.
