Caboobaroo
I'm in need of some pics of an exploded view of some EJ rear brakes (the drum assembly, rotor/hub and caliper. I'm going to try and modify a set of rear EJ disc brakes onto my EA82 car but I need to see what all is going to need to be "fitted":-p
jamal
If you can get the backing plate on, you're partway there. The backing plate is pressed onto the knuckle, and the caliper bracket and parking brake assembly attach to it. Then you have to figure out how to get the rotor to work, and how to get it in the right place. Did they not make any EA82 cars with rear discs? Is it possible to do an EJ hub conversion? Those would be my first two options.
idosubaru
caboob, here's someone at xt6.net that did this....sort of, but you're probably not going to like what he has to say about it: http://www.xt6.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7781 why did you want EJ stuff over EA82/XT6 rear discs or the ebrake conversion? EJ hub conversion is all but impossible. of course anything is possible, but the time, money and fabricating involved would be intense as the set ups are completely different. Caboobaroo
Well I'm looking to upgrade the rear to two piston rear calipers because I'm planning on going to 4 pistons up front, plus a bigger master cylinder. Yeah, maybe overkill but with my upcoming EJ20G swap in mind (which I want to put down some impressive numbers with), I want to have everything else capable of handling it. Also, I want to have the upgradable brake choices like I do with my suspension currently. That and I wanna be different:-p I have access to a CNC machine and metal lathes if I need them as well.
