lmdew
Fixed. Just had to remove the bottom sill trim, loosen the two bolts and give it a wack with the board and hammer. I moved it back about 3/16" and it no longer rattles. Solid as can be. There is a little adjustment in just the latch plate, but I needed more. Anyone have the cure for the Rear hatch rattle on a 98 Impreza. There does not seem to be much adjustment in the hook and none in the latch. The bumpers are in good condition as is the seal. Am I missing an adjustment point, Thanks, Larry
Legacy777
My 97 OBS is doing the same thing....I adjusted it a little bit....but sounds like I need to do something similar.
lmdew
I think the nut plate inside must be sealed or held in place with some adhesive. I tried to push it back a few weeks ago. I could only move the plate a 1/16" or so. It took a wood block and a good wack to get it to move (bolts loose while moving it).
scdrtramp
My rattle seems to be the "strong arms that support the hatch when open. I have tried a few things, but they are loose on the ball that bolts to the hatch. Will new arms fix this rattle??? THX in advance.
1 Lucky Texan
there's a lot of force on those - sure that's where the sound comes from? maybe you could wrap them with some thin foam or bubble wrap or ????, check the clearance, then close the hatch and drive - see if there's any difference?
