we have a customer that blew up his 3at 86 gl-10 wagon

he wants us to install a 5spd tranny

we have 7 pushbutton 4wd 5spds laying around

he has no use for a d/r....so we want to use the push button

i know we need to use the vacuum crap and harness..

but what else, anyone done it?

thanks

pedal box

shift linkage

drive shaft

gauge cluster (optional)

Rear diff, if he has 25 spline fronts you'll need to swap front axles, center console may be different(I'm not sure, not well versed in ea82 interior), possibly transmission x-member.

thanks guys, ive got all that already

all im unsure about is vacuum actuators, and electronics

does the pb4wd tranny have a seperate harness, or are we looking at entire harness swap?

what exactly do i need to yank from a doner to hook up vacuum switch?

Dan the push button operation

is a very simple affair.

In front of the wiper motor are two solenoids.

Picture - Thanks to Gloyale

PICT2412.jpg

These direct the vacuum signal to the proper side of the

vacuum motor (basicly a diaphram that pushes/pulls the cable to engage the rear drive).

The vacuum comes from the storage canister located behind the pass side strut tower.

The button on the shifter is just a SPDT switch

(see switch types for an explaination)

Each position of the switch operates one of the solenoids.

Thus pulling the cable connected to the vacuum motor

or

pushing the cable.

If you need more help on the wiring please ask

The other wiring you will need it the "4WD" indicator light on the dash.

Hope this helps.
