darthsoob
I have to to a rebuild on my hitachi 2 barrel carb for my 87 brat but I for the life of me can't find the carb model number. I saw something on the back side of the float bowl that appeared to be silkscreened but I thought the model number would have been engraved. Where should I look? Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Rebuild a Hitachi Carb? ... I think you Should Look elsewhere to Find a Weber Carb instead!
suburpy
Hey mate you can rebuild your Hitachi Carb and it's not that hard, just make sure all the vacuum things work ok and that theres no play in the throttle shafts. I have rebuilt afew Hitachi carbs, not as easy as a weber to rebuild but no biggie. The Model number is stamped not engraved on the front of the fuel bowl from memory (looking from front of car) usually by the time u need to rebuild it's covered in gunk. I suggest you clean the outside of the carb first, then you should be able to find it. Good luck. Yeah it is what you say silk screened usually starts with a a DCM or DCX. darthsoob
Much as I would like to Webberize I don't know that the car would pass emissions, the cost of conversion vs. kit rebuild and what to do will all the vacumn lines kinda has me going toward rebuild. Sorry. As for the model number I saw something on the back of the float bowl but the three digits I saw didn't match any kit numbers. I will have to pull off the air cleaner and take a better look at the front of the bowl. Thanks!
suburpy
Gday mate Just a thought you can get a weber with the required EGR hook ups, etc to pass emissions. One of the old ones is a Double pump weber 32/36 DGV it comes i think (by memeory) from a 2.0 litre ford cortina, it has all the required stuff and looking from the top it is noticeably different top cover and other differences. And I reckon a new weber can be made to pass emissions cause you can get all the stuff eGR, etc. Just gonna cost more (of course)
86BRATMAN
Another option is an spfi swap from an ea82 car.

86BRATMAN
I'm not a carb guy, at least when they break. I just don't fully trust myself when it comes to the tuning. But this fine fellow may have caught a break, there is a full weber kit in the classifieds. If it isn't sold already. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77878
