natrea
I am new to the Subaru world. I have just bought a 95 legacy 2.5 100K miles and there is a rattling noise that doesn't go away when the engine is warm and vibrates the exhaust etc loudly at some points. 2 Mechanics immediately said it was the lifters or rockers knocking and also linked it to the ticking noise at idle speed - I thought that was just normal Subaru sound. one mechanic also said I should take it staight back to where i got it - but the dealer says my warranty will cover it. Is this a straight forward problem to fix ? Should I get an experienced Subaru mechanic to do the work or can any competant mechanic be trusted on this car? Many thanks Nat
nickb21
Warranty? Must be the super-extended one :-) . Is it a really tinny kinda sound? My guess would be the heat sheilds that wrap around the exhaust are coming loose. These cars seem to have a lot of sheilding and after awhile things loosen up, have you peered under the car and given a listen?
