Dogger
I need the right CV joint replaced. I'm not set up with tools at the moment to try it myself, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a shop or somebody that is inexpensive in the Seattle area. I'd also like to be able to have them just do a general check and see if they notice or hear anything else that may be going wrong with it. Just want to make sure it's drivable for the next couple of months so I can save up money to fix it up. I've searched and Superior Subaru and Smart Service seem to be highly recommended, but those posts were from last year :-\ Any new referrals? Oh...and this is my first Soob Rod

Caboobaroo
Welcome! I have replaced may axles on many Subarus and can do it in a short amount of time, however, I'm now in an apartment and they don't really like it when you work on your car. If we can get together at someone's house (there's a lot of members in the area), then I can help you swap it out and supply the needed tools to do it. If you want to keep driving on it for a couple more months, here's some things to remember. First, if it clicks when you make a hard turn, like turning around, then you should be fine for a couple months as long as you be careful when turning around (no stomping on the gas while cranked hard one way). Second, if it does blow on you, no fear, you're in a Subaru! Take a punch the size of the pin that holds the axle onto the transmission and tap it out with a hammer. Then, click it in 4wd and voila, RWD Brat:headbang:
Dogger
If you helped me out would you prefer beer, food or $$ for compensation? I think it's safe to drive for a bit...haven't really heard any clicking yet, but the boot is torn. I'm more interested in having someone check it out and take it for a spin and tell me what the various noises are that they hear I'm selling my 4runner, so once it goes I'll be relying on the Brat. I typically have Fri-Sun off, except for the next two weekends, and I have a friend who said his carport is open for me anytime who lives near the Northgate area. Waiting on my dad to send me all the metric tools that I left with him when I moved up here. I'm looking forward to my continuing delve into the Soob addiction Rod
