Side Trim

They are plastic clips, they break unless you get up inside the body to pop them loose with pliers or something

 

I'd take off the inner door panel, cut through the plastic, and try working on them from that side.

 

To get the door panel off, you:

1. remove the inner mirror cover--pops off

B. remove the door latch plastic plate/cover--one screw, or maybe it pops off too, I forget

3. remove the armrest--two screws under the little covers--pop the covers out with a flat screwdriver

d. lots of little fasteners hold the door panel on--just pull the panel away, most will still be OK

5. pull the door panel up and away, and separate the electric window connector

im just gonna remove my trim all together on my 82 i think it will look cleaner if any one is interested in it they can have it for oh say 20 bucks its a little dinged and bent but its good am keeping the crome bumpers and rings for the tail lights thats just style ther :)

I am also wanting to take them off. What could I fill the holes with though? Its my wifes car. So it has to have something (she wont drive around with holes along her car) For the sake of detailing it I would like to take them off and stop the rust underneath them.

Would be best to weld holes over, but bondo will do the job. May last long time, may need to be repaired, again if/when bondo is used. Depends....

Welding would be probably the best bet, but if you don't have a welder, I have used that "liquid Steel" stuff that sets up very hard, put that in there and squeeze it tight, and when it set up, sand it smooth.
