cobcob
Having some issues with my 88 GL-10T. It's giving all indications of an MAF problem, cleaned the MAF, and it would then start and idle Problem is that it won't idle below 2500 rpm! I've tried adjusting the idle speed screw on the throttle body but that doesn't have any effect. I've got the battery disconnected right now so it'll hopefully clear the codes. I haven't been able to get the CEL to flash at all, it just stays on solid no matter if I have the black connectors or green connectors plugged in... Kinda stumped here! misledxcracker
Do a D-Check. Connect only the green connectors, turn the key in the ON position, push in the gas pedal all the way then let it out to halfway for two seconds then release. Start the car and run it above 2000 RPM or take it for a cruise. Once the Check Engine light illuminates, stop and look down at the ECU, itll tell you the codes. john in KY
Bad idea tinkering with the idle screw. Problem is air is entering the intake manifold by bypassing the throttle body. Check all those small hoses attached to the air intake tube and then look at the IAS.

I thought that the CEL would flash the code out? I marked the position of the idle screw before adjusting it, took it a few degrees in and out then set it back to where it was when it didn't do anything... misledxcracker
The idle screw on the TB shouldnt really do THAT much screwing it in and out, but I"m not sure, as yours is a turbo. You look in front of the ECU, there's a hole in the front with a red bulb. Complete opposite side of where the wires plug in.
cobcob
Awesome! THanks!! No wonder I couldn't get any codes... I was waiting for the CEL to flash!
Turbone
Have you set the timing also? 20+/- BTDC if I recall. There is a mixture screw behind the plenum/TB, you need to move the PCV hoses out of the way and use a long screwdriver to get to it.
cobcob
Definately an MAF issue... I'm getting a code '23' in d-check mode... Guess I'll try and source another one around someplace. After that I should be able to get it to idle properly so I can check the timing...
