ok i read all about it and i need some advice... when its slow to engage from P into Reverse and into D, would it get better with a oil change and a bottle of Lucas? or should i just junk that damn thing.. oh yes 93 legacy 4EAT.

Get a transmission tune-up kit from Justice Brothers, it'll be two bottles of stuff, one bottle you pour in and let the car idle for 5 minutes, and run it through the gears a couple of times to clear any gunk out of the valve body, then you drain and install a new tranny filter, and add the other bottle of stuff with the new fluid. It works really well...

 

Go here http://www.justicebrothers.com/pages/products/products_pas.htm and scroll down to the one that says "Automatic Transmission Service" that's what you need...

There's an anti-drain back valve in the line that supplies ATF to the torque converter. Over time this valve fails, so it takes a little bit to fill the torque converter back up.

 

I do not know if this valve/line is internal or external, but I experienced this with my 90 legacy when it was AT, and had an trans tech mention the valve.
