Sweet82
Just got a new muffler for the Buggy. One end, of the muffler, is off-set the other is centered. It fits better one direction. The problem is the <A-B> stamped on the muffler will be reversed <B-A>. B at the front A at the rear if I install it in the best fitting direction. Is this a problem? Anyone know the <A-B> stamp? I don't know mufflers!:cornfuzz: Thanks, Glenn 82 Hatch, well it use to be......... 01 Forester, still is..............
Goatboy
Its a universal muffler. I believe you can run it either way. I think depending on which direction you install it there will be a different back pressure. But I don't think it will matter to much. Install it one way and maybe drive it a couple of days and then flip it to see if it is better. it won't hurt anything. --GoatBoy--
ShawnW
I believe if it doesnt have FLOW with an ---> or similar on it then it doesnt matter but I would verify that with the seller of the muffler. You might also ask a muffler shop in your area.
Sweet82
From what you guys are telling me it seems as though it is a "universal" type. Box says nothing about direction of flow. The flow diagram looks like this <A-----B> That might mean it can flow either way? Mudrat thought it could go either way too! I'm hookin it up! Thanks for the feed back Glenn 82 Summer, (Subaru Hummer) soon to have an exhaust system. 01 Forester, already has exhaust system!
rallyruss
ok so like the alphabet goes A before B. yes I made that mistake once and the guy at the muffler shop made fun of it. said a rookie must have installed it. A = inlet B= outlet peas, russ

junkyardgabe
usually when it has a-b its the flow direction but it wouldnt effect it that much if its a universal muffler A----->B:burnout:
