Tosh
I was told my PS lines would just bolt up to eachother so I didn't give them a second thought. Sadly they don't they are both male and with no female I don't see how thats gonna work http://toshcari.googlepages.com/IMG_0588.JPG also as far as installing my EJ22 radiator should I go to town on the frame rail there with the grinder ? or do I weld on some kind of lip on the motor side of it ? http://toshcari.googlepages.com/IMG_0589.JPG thanks again guys. subyrally
you sir are curesed, arent you? as far as the steering lines, you should be able to get an adaptor from your parts store, just might have to dig through the ppul bins in the back, if they have those. cant tell you what to do about the radiator though. 86BRATMAN
Most of the ej radiators have been fitting by modding the lower support. They sit so close to the motor anyways that adding the lip may be asking for trouble. The power steering lines may swap from ea to ej at the rack itself. Haven't a clue to whether or not that'll work though, but its a thought.

It seems like you are missing something from the power steering lines. What I did was connect the lines from the crossmember to the lines from the EJ engine. Not sure if you still have the parts. Also for the radiator, I am using a stock EA81 radiator. I have the fan wired to stay one when the ECU is powered. I have no problems with heat. In fact the radiator return hose is warm to the touch, while the top hose is hot. I am also only using a single fan. Hope that helps. BW
Numbchux
yep, there's a little hardline, about 6-8" long with male connections on both ends that go on the high pressure side. it will solve the problem you have. I don't remember which car this came off of, but you have both....go see if it's still attached to the lines on the legacy, or the EA pump. EDIT: found a pic that shows my PS lines, this pic is supposed to show my rad fan sensor, but you can see the lines. that is stock loyale lines (now plugged into an '86 XT steering rack)
Tosh
rats, I actually don't have the EJ car anymore I just pulled the motor out of it never bought the whole thing. Guess I'll have to go hit up the JY.
Tosh
Ack holy crap 911!!! my throttle cable is about 6 inches to short? I need to find this out ASAP what cable do I need EJ22e, GL-10 turbo? obviously my XT one for my spider manifold is too short thanks guys.

The spyder cable is in fact, too short for anything but the XT which I found out when I put the intake on my RX:rolleyes:
Numbchux
my loyale one worked fine. shorter than I'd like, so it takes a pretty tight bend, but doesn't kink.
Tosh
Ok I'm almost done with this guys I swear soon I'll be helping people my question for the day is my alternator wiring. From what I've talked to Tex and others about is that I'm running the main charge cable from the Ej22 alt (the one with the 10mm bolt) straight to the positive terminal of my battery. and that I should solder the EJ plug to my EA alt plug wires. My question is which wires and where ? http://toshcari.googlepages.com/IMG_0614.JPG as you can see the 2 "charge" wires that I would go to my + term on my battery have a wire that goes to my EJ alt plug. now from what I can recall my EA plug didn't have this. So should I leave that as is and just splice the 2 wires on the plug? this would mean that the plug on my alternator would have a constant source of power from my battery. Is that right ? or should I cut that big white wire and only splice the 2 wires from my EA plug? I'm hoping to get this cranking sometime tomorrow I think this is my "last" question so 5 points for whoever answers it
86BRATMAN
Do you still have your factory ea alternator wiring in the car? If you do, use this as an example. Run the stock charge wire from the ea82 system to the ej alternator. Then splice and solder the other two wires together. Don't worry about the third wire from the ej alt. it just sends signal to the low charge indicator IIRC.

I'm embarrassed to say that's my car. man what a crappy soldering job. buuut....I did that setup a year ago in a hurry, and haven't had a reason to touch it. it's worked wonderfully. I've never been left with a dead battery in anything above -30*F (and then I got a dry-cell battery ) the large white wire that attaches to the stud on the alt is unmodified EA82. and the other 2 is just the EJ plug on the end of the EA harness. Tosh
Sweet I had seen that picture before but after I un loomed my EJ stuff I had some ? Time to get a soldering gents
Tosh
Alt is all wired up YAY, I just kinda want to check to make sure some of the stuff I've done so far is right. the PDF file for the EA2EJ was kinda fuzzy so I wasn't 100% sure on some of these. Speed sensor Plug B58 Pin 11 Starter Switch Plug B56 Pin 10 (from what I can tell I run pin 2 from my igition relay to the ON position in my tumbler, and I run Pin 10 to the START position. So pin 10 will be getting power whenever the key is in the START position and pin 2 on my relay will be getting power whenever I'm in the "ON" position. Is that right?) ECU memory Plug B48 Pin 15 now per the diagram in Numbchux PDF (thank you so much for that btw) pin 5 and 6 of my ignition relay will have power at all times. I guess a simpler way to answer all these questions is how much of the wiring in this diagram do I have to solder in myself and how much/what wires are already included in my stock harness ? http://toshcari.googlepages.com/Picture5.jpg Thanks again guys
Tosh
as far as I can tell this is what I need to do power wise. incase you can't read it cause its to small. Blue is wires that are part of my stock EJ harness (that I didn't take out) Green is stuff thats part of my stock EA harness and red is wire that I myself need to run
Caboobaroo
Does it work yet? I thought you'd be driving it today like you said hmmmm?:-p
Numbchux
I'm pretty sure that's right. just get out a multimeter, and check for continuity according to the diagram....if you've got it...you're set! also, there are a couple things on the EJ engine (IIRC coil, and maybe some other things) that get power directly from the alternator. it's much simpler to just run those right to the main relay for power.
