waxler4
I am really struggling to reinstall the torque converter after replacing the front transaxler seal. Inside the torque converter there are two sets of splines. The internal component that includes the larger splines "floats around" inside the torque converter. When I attempt to slide the converter in place I believe the small splines engage the input shaft. However, I cannot get the larger splines to engage those on the reaction shaft because the "floating splines" do not stay concentric to the small splines under the force of gravity. Is there some trick to aligning all these splines? I can't believe that I would need to position the transaxle on end to negate the effects of gravity!! I would certainly appreciate advice from somebody with experience in this area. Thanks!
Manarius
Just be extremely careful when you're doing it because if you misalign the converter and you hear a "pop" when you insert it, you just broke the fluid pump for the tranny.
