Love the car so far, already had it up in the mountains and up snoqualmie pass, so far so good. I am having some headlight electrical issues though. Drivers side headlight is SUPER dim, and it isn't the bulb already tried that first. Also when the headlight switch is turned once (to the parking light position) the dash lights are bright but no running lights are on, once switched to headlights..the dash lights are barely noticable and very dim. I have to click the parking light switch on the steering column for running lights with the headlights on or off... Any recommendations on where to start? Also throwing a code 55, EGR temp sensor? I did a search and found this thread from earlier this year. It has a bunch of points you may want to check for the headlights. It provides the power for both the left headlight and the Running lights. Pull the lower dash panel, and reach up behind the dash to the left of the steering column. Mounted in a bracket bolted to the back of the dash, with 3 other relays, is the headlight relay. The left side one has a green connector. If it was just the dim left headlight, I would say just fuse #7 is blown. But since it is the Relay that actually provides the power to fuse #7, and Fuse #6(running lights) that means it is probably the relay. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'd say go to a Junkyard and grab all four relays from a car there. Then you have extras, and it will give you a change to dig around and find where the relay is located, before you have to you're car apart. Buying a new one would probably be spendy, for a simple relay. Alternately, you could use a generic $5 relay for anything and wire it in. The old relay has a diagrahm right on it's side so you could compare and adapt any relay. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Gloyale Posted August 20, 2007 Share Posted August 20, 2007 The EGR gas temp sensor is a Cali only thing. Test it to see if its continuity across the 2 terminals is above 250 Ohms. If not get a new sensor. Or put a resistor in it's place between the W/r wire and ground. 300 ohm should do t eliminate the CEL, if it;s lighting. If not I'd ignore the code. As far as the headlight I had the same problem, One of the relays behind the dash, to the left of the steering wheel was the problem. I don't remember which one , But I just swapped them around to trobleshooot, then replaced the bad one Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
