2K4 STI
Can it be done after doing the 5 Lug conversion??? I have seen most just use wrx wheels, but can larger 17" wheels fit or are they to big for the wheel wells.
s'ko
You might have to use low profile tires to get 17's in there. I had a set of 205-60-15, (stock size for a 2k OBS) on some pugs put onto my BRAT once. W/the suspension cranked all the way up, I still hit the back of the fender well when I hit a bump. With 17th you would probably have to use 40 series.
j2coe
or trim the fenders good evcuse to get rid of some rust.
2K4 STI
So really some 16's would probally be a better choice. 17's with 40 series tires usually result in bent rims What offset would you run in a 16 and what rim width would fit. This is of course after the 5 lug swap

Hodaka Rider
Wow someone put impreza wheels on a Camaro SS?? I am not sure which one is sexier.. the Camaro or the Soob..... Soob FTW. The SS is nice, but what really kills them for me is the pricks who usually drive them:rolleyes: (not to generalize, I do know ONE nice guy that owns a sweet old RS/SS)

This is of course after the 5 lug swap 40 series usually result in bent rims? My Acura - stock - comes with 235/45/17. (Gotta have room to clear the big-rump roast brembos) Even on the crappy roads around here, I haven't seen any get trashed. nearly anyone with a 17 or larger wheel uses 40 series tires. that goes for stock and aftermarket. 17s on the RX will work just fine at stock height some 225/45/17 will put you at almost the same outer diameter as stock wrx wheels and tires. And it will leave a little room to play with the suspension without a bunch of rubbing issues.
86BRATMAN
I ran 205/40/17's on my various integras and never bent a rim, If you drive careless and don't watch for potholes then yeah you'll bend one. Search for posts and pictures by rguyver. He has 17's on his brat with a 5 lug swap, running 225 somethings and no trouble...
Numbchux
I've got a set of 17x8 wheels in the garage awaiting to go on my loyale. here's one bolted up to the rear of my car: 205/40r17 or 205/45r17 are both pretty close to stock diameter. problem is the width. these will not tuck up into the fender wells like stock ones. I don't think any amount of fender rolling will really solve that. so, either stick with the monster truck ride height, or get some stiffer springs/shocks with the hub and wheel bolted down tight, here's the gap between the inside of the rim and the trailing arm:
2K4 STI
Here in Vegas "Land of construction" there are many people who bend there 17" rims even with 45 series tires. Some of the edges in the roadways where they are going to pave the road are huge. I for one have never bent a 17" or 18" here but i dont wanna start. And i thought he was refering to just a 40 series tire. Not a 45 I will probally just find a nice set of 16's and run them. What offset is usually run though?
2K4 STI
NumbChux what are you going to do about the trailing arm?Cause im pretty sure the tires gonna rub some
Caboobaroo
with such a short sidewall that 40 and 45 series tires have, the tire won't flex and rub the trailing arm unless you get too wide of a tire. I have a set of 16x7 rims that I'll be throwing onto my coupe and will get some pics when I get them on. I have seen 17x7's but you have to roll the fenders. I know WJM stuffed 18's under his RX but IMHO, after seeing Tex's old RX with 18's, they look too big to fit the car, cosmetically speaking. Numbchux
8" = 203mm.....so a 205mm tire should clear fine. a 215 would create problems. if I have to, I can always get a 5-10mm hub spacer. I highly doubt your roads are as bad as ours (because, honestly, any worse would be impassible). if you're careful, you won't bend any rims. suberdave
here is my car... its a wagon not an RX but the wheels / tires fit the same. five lug swap, with 7X17" wheels with 40mm offset, lowered with Tien Flex coilovers. 205/40/17 tires... almost 20K on them. only bent rim was from a curb in the snow... no fender rolling or triming. they fit just like they should. they wont tuck up under the fender, so i cant lower it much more. but with the 4.111:1 EJ trans the spedo is close enough not to matter... -=Suberdave=- www.suberdave.com

The Dude Abides
Ye Gods thats a sexy wagon DROOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL I am still on the debate from 16s or 17s. For me the 17s look to big. Ive always kind of gone with the rule of thumb. No bigger then 2 or 3 sizes from what it came from the factory. But thats just my opinion. Ben well....13s are rediculously small. 14s would be right at home. that in mind, and consider the huge sidewalls on the stock tires, 17s really aren't that big. The tires I have on my impreza for street use are 225/55/17s. They're just barely smaller than my 27 inch swampers. Rim size doesn't matter, it's the tire size. kingbobdole
I also have 17"s on my XT-6, with "5 lug swap":-p They are stock LGT wheels, 17x 7 or 7.5.. I do not recall which. I also run 205/40R17s and have not bent a rim and I've hit some pretty nasty holes. Biggest problem I see is that if my tire was too much taller it'd hit the suspension in the front. Also this tire is with in 1% of my stock 195/60R14(IIRC) size. Heres a pic.
subaru_styles
my wagon 17x7.5 48mm et 205/40/17 . rear fender pic (FYI ea82 coupe rear fenders are more "flared" out then 4drs/wagons)
