MAD MAX Posted September 6, 2007 Share Posted September 6, 2007 I was approached by my neighbor the other day and he asked if I would be interested in giving this a new home or if I knew of anyone that would for $250. Very clean inside and out. I just had to get it. it has oil going into the radator but no water in oil pan. any ideas? The front shocks had been replaced with standard and not the origional air that it should have. So it will need those. and that's the only problems with the car. 86BRATMAN Posted September 6, 2007 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Good looking car. Well worth the $250 you dropped on it. IMHO replace the rear air struts with conventional 4wd rear struts. If not well maintained the air struts are more trouble than they are worth. Something is obvisiouly gone wrong with them for the front to be swapped. Is it manual or auto? MAD MAX Posted September 6, 2007 Author Share Posted September 6, 2007 its automatic, just paid for it today and haven't dug in to it yet but the oil/water in the radiator didn't think it looked or smelled like tranny fluid. I never saw water in my oil, either, and I ran for six months and about 10K miles like that. (Didn't have much choice, I got fired when I eventually tried to get a few days off in a row to work on the bloody thing.) it could very well be the radiator that's leaking internally, as the auto trannys are cooled through the radiator. check the transmission fluid level and check the state of the radiator. Turbone Posted September 6, 2007 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Of course its head gaskets, its a EA82T:rolleyes: Sorry, I have had several of these and its a common problem.....and a cheap way to get a Subaru:-p Along with checking the rad for bubbles while running, keep an eye on the temp. If it rises above the halfway mark, it very well could be a bad HG. Let me know if you need parts for it, I have lots and am only 45min away from you. Also go register at http://xt6.proboards50.com/index.cgi#general. Its a temp site right now until the original one gets some registration problems ironed out. MAD MAX Posted September 10, 2007 Author Share Posted September 10, 2007 well got it running the guy was happy that i got it started but kind of mad that it only took me about 5 min. to start it and took him two weeks last year with no luck so it runs great now put some water in it now it dosent over heat still need to figuer out about the fluid in water problem i dont see any water in the oil.
