GeneralDisorder
The clutch on my new 94 Legacy, while not in danger of giving out, doesn't lock up like I would like it to. It slips much too easily, and I'm naturally a spirited driver. What is a good reasonably priced clutch kit and perhaps a lightened flywheel that will do what I want? Not looking for racing parts, just something that will clamp when I let it out with a stock EJ22... GD

Not looking for racing parts, just something that will clamp when I let it out with a stock EJ22... GD A couple of weeks ago, I replaced mine with an OEM clutch kit from 1stSubaruparts (Auburn Subaru). The machine shop that resurfaced the flywheel removed a few thousands more on the outer crown (where the pressure plate bolts on) to give it more grip when needed. That's a road you might take. I'm very satisfied with the results. Good luck!
Hondasucks
Go get an OEM kit for an EJ25... The OEM kits, at least the 2.5 kits we have @ my work, include a new flywheel, and the cost of the kit is marginally more than buying the individual components, minus the flywheel. Any possilbilty of a part number for that beast? And how will that work with the cable clutch? Also how do I know which 2.5 kit I need (there's a number of them), and will the disc mate up to the 2.2 trans? GD
Virrdog
Exedy is the flywheel you want, I don't know if they make one for the NA models, though. Stock clutch with a fresh pressure plate is all you need. I have taken a very long and expensive journey to find this out. :-\
86BRATMAN
Yeah I'll agree on the ej25 clutch kit. It will work fine with the cable clutch, both are the push style activation, the only side effect may be more pedal feel(not that I consider that a bad thing). And all ej's have the same spline count on the tranny. I would recomend something designed for the 2.5RS myself. As for a lightweight flywheel, I don't know if I would go that route as it will reduce overall drivability. And put more shock on the transmission during "spirited driving". But, they do make them for the RS cars I know, and it will bolt up perfectly to the ej22. I've heard it said you can use a flywheel for a wrx too, but I cannot confirm. Someone at legacycentral has one on an NA 22 so pretty sure it's a direct bolt on. GD

Now to save some pennies for it. The Exedy is made both for the 91-94 turbo EJ22T, and for the later NA 2.5RS.... I'm guessing I want the 2.5RS flywheel?? GeneralDisorder
So is this going to work for my application? http://importimageonline.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_31_95&products_id=400&osCsid=04993a9e041e9cb7037f60c5d707f10f GD
Hondasucks
Jeebus that's expensive. Yeah you want the N/A EJ25 clutch kit, I'll get you part numbers on Tueday when I go back to work.

Well - that link I posted INCLUDES the 15 lb lightweight flywheel and the stage 1 Exedy clutch set.... but I'm still open to sugestions. Part numbers would be great! Virrdog
Personally I would avoid "stage 1" stuff. You shouldn't need the heavy duty pressure plate, been there done that. And I'm not a fan of the ACT aluminum flywheels. Steel bolted to aluminum and then continually heated/cooled and spun very fast in the engine... no thanks. Exedy is a solid piece of billet steel and is very driveable day to day. I wouldn't give mine up for anything, driveability is fine. You might get a soft stall here and there, a very carefully timed bog can make the engine stop where the old heavy flywheel would have chugged through it (roughly).
