paulpicard
I am ordering a rear wheel bearing assy for my "new" 92 Loyale 4wd. My local auto parts store (who are very good - not Autozone or Canadian Tire type) quoted me on an SKF part# GRW142 at Can$110 (US$100) So here I am double-checking as I only have a Haynes manual covering EA81 and early EA82's. Is this all I'm gonna need or are there seals and other parts involved, and is the price reasonable?
Reveeen
All I have is a NTN number K8000-90152 @ $60 US (List $106) There are two seals inner (brake side), outer (diff side) Inner seal (CR $5.40) or Subaru $17.xx ($8 trade price) No idea on the outer, should be similar $ wise Amazon.com will sell you a GRW142 for $52.81 US http://www.amazon.com/SKF-GRW142-Hub-Unit/dp/B000ELW8HS There is cheaper on the web if you look. I have no idea what the dealer wants for a bearing Note: these are press-in bearings
markjw
Partsamerica.com is usually really cheap. They want $105 for a set of inner and outer bearings and a few dollars for the seals.

RONAN
I did one last year. The bearing cost me $38 and change and the seals were $5 & $7 I think. There is only one bearing.
markjw
Oops. I guess the fwd has the inner and outer. Here's a link to what you may need. http://www.partsamerica.com/productdetail.aspx?MfrCode=SKF&MfrPartNumber=GRW142&PartType=186&PTSet=A
Reveeen
Thanx reveeen and markjw. Anyone got part numbers for these seals? I don't have them (buried in paperwork), I could call Subaru this AM if you like, I really don't trust aftermarket (for seals). If your parts folks are hooked up with the "Best Buy" group (wholesalers out of Toronto) you can source Beck Arnley through them.
Gloyale
There is only 1 bearing! Some EA82(early, 85 for sure, possibly till 87 or 88) have 2 seperate tappered roller bearings. But IIRC you can replce that style with the single large roller bearing. For a 92 It should just be one in there already.
paulpicard
Thanks everyone. Reveeen, appreciate the offer, but I'm picking up a heater resistor block at the Penticton dealer so I believe I'll get the seals from them as well since they seem to be inexpensive. FWIW, the resistor block is C$48.00 at the dealer.
