Durania
So I found a high topper for my Brat, should be going to pick it up on Friday. My question is, how do I attach this thing to my Brat? I dont want this thing go shooting off onto some guy in a miata behind me.

Mine has some stainless steel 'hook bolts' that hook into the load tie in points on the wall of the bed and then slip through a small piece of tubing welded to the frame of the topper, I'll snap some pics and upload them first thing tomorrow if you'd like... a picture's a lot better than my hacked up words:headbang:

daeron
they make what are essentially C-clamps designed for this purpose. A few small bolts as "studs" to hold it in place laterally, and say three c clamps on either side should hold it perfectly fine.
Durania
How much does this thing weight? The sube dealership that I go to religiously is close to where I am picking it up at. Do you think they would carry them in a reasonable price range?
cobcob
Here's a snap of the bolt that I have holding my top down... there are 2 on each side of the bed, they hook into the load tie in points on the wall of the bed. My topper can't weigh more than 30-40 lbs... If it didn't flop around so much I'm sure I'd be able to lift it myself, it's just so dang awkward to try and carry alone... Durania
Thanks for the pics. I called down to the parts guy at the subaru place and they dont carry those hooks anymore. Do you think I would have some luck finding these kind of things at a Lowes or something?

Go to the Hardware store and look for a hook that is that long. Make sure that the threads are a bit longer than the distance between the hook and the chrome. This is a pretty common hardware item. Just make sure you get two nuts so you can lock it together.

It looks like a 1/4" or 3/8" Eye Bolt maybe 6"s by the picture. They will have something close that will work for you.
cobcob
t looks like a 1/4" or 3/8" Eye Bolt maybe 6"s by the picture. They will have something close that will work for you. It's not a complete eye bolt though, it's more of a "J" shape... In a pinch you could get by with some threaded rod, washers and nuts. I'd be pretty sure that you'll be able to find something that will work at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards (not sure what you have in your area) or Fastenal... Durania
Well the J hooks I bought were useless they didnt line up with the holes on the camper so I took the shoe strings out of my steel toes and tied her down for the 2 minute ride up the road to get some tie down straps. Well heres the pics, the old girl cleaned up real nice; I didn't want to do much since it was pouring the rain at the time but I got the mildew off of it. Also a quick note, I went to pick this up in Harriman which where the number 1 subaru dealer in the state is. So many it would make you Washington guys feel at home. Heres the count: 1 two door loyale. 1 GL-10 Sedan 2 2 door imprezas 1 H6 Outback Sedan 23 First Gen Legacies. Thanks for you guys' help on this. Oh well I just took them back to lowes before I went to work today. I had never even heard of the manufactuer ill post the name of it when I get up in the morning. Its got a 1800 number on the back, I should call and still see if they are in business. All I need to do is get some plexi-glass for the back and the side window and Ill be in good shape. Its got a light in the topper, how in the world would one wire that thing up?
