northguy
1995 Legacy sedan Automatic gear shift button is reluctant to depress when cold. After it is warm, it shifts as it should. Any ideas other than parking inside full time?
porcupine73
Does it seem like it is that solenoid thingy that pulls in when you step on the brake? That interlock doesn't have a lot of force capability, so maybe if you can clean it up if it's grimy and use some graphite or other lube that won't attract dirt maybe that would help. idosubaru
i'm not sure how it all works, i think i'd start by taking the shifter off and cleaning/greasing the button properly and checking the connections like porcupine says. fairly sure that's really easy to do, i've take them off before but never gotton into the button mechanism. Juan
Pretty sure there was a recall on that lever because it could slip into reverse without pressing the button. Juan
nipper
The recall was later. Do a search here, as this comes up from time to time. nipper
northguy
The trouble is, apparently, not a lubrication problem. It may be, as someone noted, a sloenoid issue. Has anyone experienced this also? If so, how difficult is the fix?
