restore?

Recommended Posts

This is the stuff in the silver can? right?

If so, I used it on some of my previous EA82 Soobs when they started to burn oil. It seemed to help reduce the amount that I would have to add, as for power... Nothing real noticable.

This was back before I know as much as I do now, which still isn't much. So you may want to wait for some other responses to see if there are adverse effects.

REstore is alright if you want to go the cheap way..

Prolong is the best way to go

A kid I know ran his subaru with no oil showing on the dipstick for 3 weeks (before it died) after he prolonged it. (Not saying this is good, but hey, it was worth the test.. lol)

If your car is just burning oil and thats it, Lucas's Oil Stabilzer works better then Restore. (you get a quart bottle for 8 bucks)

use it in your tranny too if you have a manual

DO NOT USE LUCAS!!

I can't think of the site that did this test, anyone have it? Lucas causes the oil to foam like CRAZY when it's whipped around at high speed. The pictures they had on this site were amazing. If anyone has it, please post it. I'm pretty buzzed right now and can't remember many details, somebody fill the guys in?

Before I knew about the problems with Lucas, I used it. It actually made my lifter clatter worse. I've found that Subarus benefit best from half a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil with every oil change.

i never used it in my scooby, oil additives = bad on turbo motors, they work off of heat, and you dont want all that **** caking up the turbo, but on a n/a motor, its the best and ONLY additive i use.. more compression, less oil consumption... My 300z had 140k on it, and its doing good.. the best one was my 90 escort gt, bought it with 95k, it used about a half quart between changes.. i added the restore, and ragged it to 180k, changed the oil every 3k, and added it again... i beleive thats the only thing that held that car together.. and yes, it quit using oil!.

I was wondering if anyone else had the same turbo problem with using Restore. My compression isn't horrible in the cylinders but i was thinking that using it once would top them out. I don't want to mess the turbo up though.

i wouldnt use it in a turbo, too much heat.. they use zinc..

theroeticly (sp?) it would help. but in reality, zinc would prolly coke up the turbo.. I just dont know.. ill try it on my car, the turbos on its way out anyhow (smokes just a little bit at high boost when shifting gears)

i never seen it stop leaks before, but now that i think about it, every car ive put it in never leaks a drop... hmm.. i have noticed that it takes a while for this stuff to start working, you just cant put one can in and expect maricles, use every 3000 miles youll notice..
