Manual Boost control

I hear you guys talking about creating a manual boost control for your cars. I'm intested in learning a lil bit more about these, for i have a turbo in my EA82. I can't put it into my car yet, not untill i change my head gaskets, but i'm still interested in finding out mroe about these. Does anyone have a write up about the boost controlor? i looked in the parts or how to section, but there weren't any to speak of. If any one could offer some help...it would be much appreciated.

I Have mde a Few of them With just parts from the home depot, i can make a write up on building one im sure that it would provide some help to alot of people but ill at least get you a list of parts in a few minutes.

 

(These Are all Brass "air" Fitting Found at Home Depot)

 

-1/4" NPT Tee

-1/4" Male NPT coupling

-1/4" Female NPT x 3/16" hose barb

-1/4" Male NPT x 3/16" hose barb

-5/16" x 1 1/2" SHCS (Bolt, Basicly Anything This Size will work)

-5/16 Jam Nut

-1/4" dia ball bearing (Bike Shop is the Best Place to get this)

-Spring ~ 1.69" lg x 3/16" dia

 

I Will Try to Do a Write up on this today, and post it, but it might not be till later tonight as im kinda busy today but i hope this helps out for right now.

Nope They Told me that it was Delivered on 11/26/03 and they Can't Do anything about it, other than offer me Free Shipping on Another one, so im Sending This one out today and i Made shure that i have the Address PERFECT on the box this time, stupid postal service :banghead:

Yea the One Listed Is the one i started out with but i found that some of the parts are harder to get at home depot so i put down the ones i used and i couldent find that website, thanks for posting that up that site is a good write up

FYI, the 5/16"-18 adjustment screw from the instructions was WAY too small for my application. I'm guessing the 1/4" NPT parts they used in those directions had much thicker walls than the ones I had (I got mine from the plumbing department, not air tools, so maybe that's the difference). My suggestion would be to buy a 1/4" BUSHING (instead of a male-to-male coupling per the directions). It's basically the same thing you are going to make out of the coupling, but already has part of the work done for you and costs almost the same price (you don't have to hacksaw one connector off as it only has one connector to start with and it's already tapped partway through on the inside making the tapping step go MUCH faster and easier). Then go to the hardware section and find out what thread the inside is of the bushing is and buy that thread bolt and nut combo.

 

I ended up using a 3/8"-24 on my MBC (since I ended up using a bushing that came with one of my Autometer gauges that was already tapped for that size).
