Subarupusher
The wife's car seems to have lost a light or two. I do not drive it enough to remember if the automatic shift indicator is illuminated on the center console. Seems to me it would be. How hard is it to replace the light? It was a real pain to get into the console and replace things back when I had XTs to play with.
Legacy777
Yeah it should be illuminated to my knowledge. I know the older legacies were. You probably need to take off the surrounding plastic piece to get at the bulb.....

Mine(Forester) was super easy- Took off the plastic surround, and was able to reach the bulb from underneath the shift gauge.About a 15 minute job at most. Bserk
I did this a week ago on my 96 Legacy OB, its a piece of cake. Pop out the plastic surrounding the shifter, remove one screw holding the shift handle..it takes one of those push-in type bulbs. #194 if I remember correctly.
