Gravityman
I am looking into getting a truck soon to haul around my crap. I was wondering what truck some of you sooby drivers own out there? Do you like the truck or is there a different model you would want?
john in KY
66 Dodge. edit: 318 A engine/4bbl/4-speed/4.10 SureGrip from a newer crewcab/10 ply tires/once drove it 6500 miles in a 20 day period. After that road trip (Alaska to Alabama) I knew it was a keeper.
Skip
07 F250 PSD only change would be to a 4" dia turbo back exhaust (I have it just don't have it installed.)
Hondasucks
92 Dodge Ram 250 if I set the cruise at 55, it'll get 22MPG empty, I usually average 14-16 loaded, depending on what I'm towing, I just wish it was a 5 speed instead of a slushbox. idosubaru
your price range and what you want out of it will determine more than our oppinions. i like reliability and cheap since i hate driving trucks with a passion, strictly functional for me. i have a straight 6 300 1994 Ford F150. in terms of reliability you can't really beat that motor with a manual trans, maybe with the exception of diesels but i know nothing about those. i tow cars with it through the mountains and it's a bit on the weak side, have to down shift to 4th to get up the steep interstate grades but otherwise it does exactly what i need and doesn't cost a dime. i've just now reached my first "repair" - a headlight at 175,000 miles. kind of scarry that everything but belts, plugs and tires on it are still original considering i'm a replacement/maintenance guy on my soobs. Reveeen
1969 International 1 ton, 345 V-8, 5 speed front, 4 speed aux in backwards (making it an overdrive, rather than an underdrive) Bought at auction originally for $200, transmissions originally from a 10 ton gas International truck, ran on propane until the price went through the roof, back on gasoline now. While parked on the street neighbors kid let their car roll out their driveway into the side did no damage. 3 1/2 Tons EMPTY, it laughs at conventional garage hoists, licensed for 24,000GVW. A "terror" on water pumps, it eats one yearly, they are starting to be hard to get.

Had 9.00/16 wheels/tires, hi-lo range, and a knob on the dash that when pulled locked the front and rear differentials. Never stuck it to my knowledge. Skip
Monsta - thanks for the encouragement. The 4" I have is SS. Too heavy for me to install and my truck's weight tore the lift out of the ground at my local exhaust shop :^0 Might try a Ford dealer when I take it in for it's 10 k service.
