Legacy SUS and sedan differences

Recommended Posts

Is the SUS paint difference just a two tone paint? In other words the doors and trim are identical to other Legacy's, other than the two tone?

What other options did the SUS get that others did not. I like the look of the SUS but am I smoking crack, it's just the two tone paint making the difference between the SUS and Legacy GT's or LSi's?

i searched around the various website and didn't really find much.

i could just paint my Legacy LSi two tone and it would look like an SUS except for the ground clearance??

anyone know if the SUS has some kind of molding or "cladding" like hocrest said? i need to find one to look at.

i think the front bumper is different two, but i could probably install one on my LSi?

If your's is a 99- then you're ok, just paint.
woo hoo! i already got the hood with scoop and trunk with wing. so all i need is a front outback bumper and paint.

my LSi is brown, i wonder if I could just paint the top or bottom? probably a bad idea, i'm not good at making things look good. i'll get some oppinions on that once it's ready to paint.

if you want it to really look like an SUS , get some outback 15" wheels and put on some 205/60/15 tires. then it will look just like the pic above just a little shorter.

i already have a set, but i like the bigger wheels better, i'll probably go with a set of Forester XT Turbo wheels i have.

dont know if the tall tires will fit under the strut perch???

the wheel is only one dimension of tire size. the GT 205/55/16 is a bigger wheel but smaller tire (24.9" diameter) than the outback 205/70/15 (26.3" diameter). the gt tire (and wheel for that matter) will fit on a legacy L with out any other changes. the GT is a sporty legacy. there probably are some minor differences (sway bar?) but struts are not one of them. i don't know about front brake calipers.

the outback wheel with 205/60/15 tires will also fit on the legacy without any other changes. this tire is smaller than the standard outback but the same size as the legacy tire.

So the outback tires don't fit on the GT's, because of the strut perch being lower. (That is what I have always heard). But, the OB tires do fit on the regular legacys.

NO!!

we are talking about 2 different things here. wheels and tires. outback and GT wheels will fit on a reg legacy. but the STOCK outback tire will not. you have to buy a smaller tier and put it on the outback wheel in order for it to fit.

stock outback tire are 205/70/15 . to put outback wheels on a regular legacy you need smaller tires, 205/60/15, or taller struts and stock tires.

GT wheels are bigger than outback wheels, but the stock tire diameter is smaller. stock GT tires and wheels will fit on a reg legacy without any changes.

From that picture it looks like the rear bumper may be slightly different also... I'm looking at the ridge on the bottom????

Even if it is though, the front bumper and the two tone are the main characteristics.

Post a pic of your car, if I have time, I'll play with PS.

the SUS and OBW front bumpers look identical but do not cross reference. is that just because of color? obviously OBW front bumpers are much easier to find than SUS.

are all SUS front bumpers the same color? is the bottom color of the "two tone" always the same across the different colors?

and same question for OBW?
