Could be a faulty fuel pump or filter. Pumps are a pretty common problem on those.
filter is new but the pump is really loud. Idles great and revs halfway but then as I said it sounds like a rev limiter. In my experiance when its the pump it usally dies slowly but I will checl pressure. thanks!

You can also be in limp mode. Since you replaced two parts at once, put the old TPS back in and see what happens.

I replaced them one at a time to see what one was maybe bad. I did o2 first with no change, then did Tps next with no change. I hate fuel injection! If it was my carbed sube it would have been fixed already.

Its a 97? I missed that. Go to an autozone or something and have the codes pulled. If its in limp mode thereshould be a bunch of them.

Does the spedo work?

When was the last time the timing belt (I think it has one) was changed?

How many miles?

Can be a clogged cat. Hit the cat with your hand and see if it rattles (when its cold).

These cars have chains not belts and it only has 109k on it. Cat does not rattle when hit. We did the code thing and thats how we came up with O2 and tps. Speedo works and cat is new. Do you know where the lower O2 sensor would be? How do you get it off limp mode and how do you reset the ECU. Thanks nipper you are very good help! Maybe MAP sensor?

Clear codes by disconnecting the battery for about five minutes, or go back to AZ and have them do it with the scanner.

The lower O2s will be after the cat, sticking out of the side of the pipe right by the footwells.

Were you getting a bank1 sensor1 or sensor2?

Check ignition stuff-on my 96 2.4 the coil packs etc failed and it would hardly run, but didnt throw any codes. Does the 2.2 have wires and a disty, or cioil packs and "integrated" ignition like my 2.4(almost impossible to check for good spark by "old time" methods)

Coil packs. It turned out to be the ECU was turning on the rev limiter to soon. Thanks for all the help
