cobcob
The trip meter in my '82 Brat is acting up... I assume something is worn in it somewhere. Every time the .9 digit rolls around the mechanism stops turning and the odometer stops as well. I can reset it using the button and it'll work for another .9 miles (sometimes it'll go further like 1.9, 2.9, 3.9 etc) then it needs to be reset again... Anyone run into this before? Any fix for it? I'm thinking of securing the reset button on the trip meter in the reset position so my odometer stays functional...

85T-REX
Did you try pulling on the button to make sure it was all the way out? The other thing you could try is to "flick" the button by pushing it in and letting it spring back out full force. Other than that it would more than likely need to come apart. cobcob
Thanks 85... the button itself is missing, I have to reset it with a pen or toothpick... I still have the rubber grommet and what I assume is the broken off piece of the button though
85T-REX
I believe they unscrew so replacing it should be easy. That should take care of the problem being able to pull it all the way back.

cobcob
http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80601 Thanks for the heads up Mick! I'll see if I can sneak it past the missus, just put 4 new tires on her Isuzu Trooper so we're a bit strapped at the moment... I guess being cash strapped beats the pants off having to have her winched out of a ditch though!
mudduck
If you don't fix it, the miles will stay down.
