bajavwnsoobnut
welp we had a problem the other day and the pass. side rear wheel bearings almost gave out on our Forester so we took it in and had it redone so the question is how many people have had troubles with rear wheel bearings in Foresters? BlueSoob
How many miles on your Forester.... I am starting to wonder about these issues with Foresters... I have extremely high mileage on mine... just wondered if I should be aware of something...
Nug
Do a search...apparently forester rear wheel bearings are worthless, and It's common and accepted to replace them with legacy bearings.
Sweet82
I wonder if Chevrolet was the one responsible for putting lousy bearings in Foresters:madder: Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it use to be...... 01 Forester, gonna go check the bearings now:cornfuzz:

chrischross
I had the same problem with my 1998 Forester. I tried searching the web and I can't find the exact page that pointed to the fix, but if memory serves correctly, there is a part number for the correct wheel bearing out of Subaru Canada. This part is a different bearing type than the stock Forester bearing. Hey -- found a link: http://www.endwrench.com/current/Current6/03/WhBearRep.pdfhttp://www.endwrench.com/current/Current6/03/WhBearRep.pdf I would recommend printing this out and bringing it in to your auto mechanic shop as they might not even be aware of the correct fix. I went through two wheel bearing jobs (the first one only lasted 7,000 miles!!) before getting the right fix. Hope this helps. Chris
Forester_Ranger
my left rear wheel bearing went bad at 56,000 miles. had dealer replace it. went bad again at 61,000 because they lubed it inproperly. It was good untill 106,000 when I got it replaced again.

This should be the correct link, but you can just go to the main page http://www.endwrench.com and drill down through the current issues. http://www.endwrench.com/current/Current6/03/WhBearRep.pdf
