starsea
I'm replacing my cv drive shaft (2003 OBW) and was wondering if it really matters whether I use a new or rebuilt one. Napa has the new one. Autozone has the rebuilt one.
porcupine73
Hi starsea. Go with Subaru OEM reman from Subaru dealer or MWE axles. New OEM Subaru is available but they're much more $$$. Many posts about people having some strange vibration issues after installing either new or reman autoparts store axles. There was just one on another board where a guy had this issue with the 'new' napa axles and he put back in his original alxe and the weird vibration was gone. Not saying this happens to everyone who uses autoparts store soob axles, and of course correlation does not prove causation.

Remeber, if the original part lasted for many many many many miles, its actually cheaper to buy the OE replacement in the long run. nipper
ericem
Also with those 'napa' axles I have heard alot of cases where they come clicking already. I think it would make me feel better knowing I have OEM axles that I know will last then some axles made by a random company.
idosubaru
the only good source of CV axles is Subaru or MWE (that's who i get all of mine from). MWE is far more economical typically and does top notch work.
starsea
Gee I'm glad I asked before I bought one. Probably go with MWE. Has anyone used the GCE axles?
