screwbaru2
Is it possible to replace the front and rear suspension on a 1997 legecy stationwagon with the suspension parts from a 1997 outback. I own both. The 2.5 outback of course has a blown HG / cracked head(s). I like the height of the outback. Any one hear of such a thing? I'm thinking hubs, rack, wheels tires, etc., basiclly everything to do with the suspension.
idosubaru
yeah it'll all swap just fine. for the outback look i think you only need to swap the struts though, that's it.

That sounds great. I'd hoped it would be that easy. Easier than pulling the 2.5 and the 2.2 to install in the outback.
Numbchux
yep, pretty common. you can mix and match the struts and springs for the ride height you want. the outback's are all taller, so by using the struts and springs from the outback you'll get the outback ride height (with better ground clearance because the outback has a slight body lift). subaru360
The ouback does have the spacers in between the crossmembers and the body, but you can just put the springs/struts in the legacy. Why not just put the engine from the legacy in the outback?

Why not just put the engine from the legacy in the outback? spacers = body lift I was referring to and, a strut/spring swap is 100,000,000,000,000,000x easier than an engine swap. subaru360
I could do either in a few hours, but, that's just me. I like the outbacks a lot more than leg wagons.

I have been thinking of doing the very same thing, but would like to hear from someone who has actually done it himself before I go out and buy the parts.
