A possible JDM/EDM soob i don't know about?

Ohhh okay, it's just like a Rex or Vivio! I want one of those, There cool!

Uhhh... I don't want to sound like I'm dumping on the shindig, but you do not want a Vivio.

We had one as an insurance company rental for a couple of months in 1994 after my mom's 1987 Civic was totalled. There's no other way to describe it besides 'horrible'.

Pressing down on the accelerator caused a great deal of racket to come from somewhere up near the front of the car, though it never actually seemed to go faster. The Kei-car dimensions would've been fine for a super-small car if it weren't as tall as it was: the resultingly-high centre of gravity coupled with poor suspension and steering meant that high winds were nervewracking, and God help you if you had to actually swerve to avoid a collision. The interior gave a whole new meaning to the term 'flimsy', and the overall fit-and-finish was inexcusable.

We took to calling it the Screaming Green Toilet - a nod towards the raucous engine and the fact that it looked like an Andy Gump knocked over on top of a skateboard. Stuck with it for nearly three months while the insurance company screwed around, the kindest comment it attracted from my family was that nobody needed a new car *this* badly. My dad even took to driving my 1986 Renault 5 in preference to it, and there was usually familial discontent on the horizon if anyone came downstairs to find that the Subaru's keys were the only ones available.

Note that my mother now drives a 2007 Outback wagon and loves it, and I'm happy in my rusty '85 Brat. But 'different' and 'good' are two entirely separate things, and the Vivio fails massively at the latter.

ROFL- the name you used to reference the portable toilet brings back memories of growing up in Southern Calif-they were all known as Andy Gumps for good reason-and the term styed in my vocabulary for years afterwards-although most people looked at me like I was from another planet when I used it. My wife and i got together and she picked up the term, and about 22 years ago we moved to Texas. Her first job was on a Survey crew laying out subdivisions, and of course finding "facilities" at times was hard. She remarked one day "There's an Andy Gump" and her crewchief gave her the strangest look, and exclaimed he hadn't heard that term used in a LONG time, and asked her when she had lived in Southern California

I didnet know they were that bad.

Me neither, until we had one. I'm kind of a Kei-car fan - the idea of a small, fun, buzzy little car is really appealing, but one thing I've noticed about them is that only the roadsters are worth having. We got (as 'grey' imports) stuff like the Suzuki Cappuccino, Honda Beat, and Mazda AZ-1, all of which were decent for what they were (and I'd kill to have an AZ-1 here). But the more orthodox models (which we officially got in small numbers) were complete junk.

Not that I'd advise against driving a Vivio if you ever get the chance; hell, you should do it just to be able to say that you have - and for the opportunity to prove me wrong. While I might not like it, it could well be your cup of tea, so to speak ;)

Happy your mom injoys her 07 OB!

Thanks :) She's someone who has owned nothing but Hondas since 1976, and bought the OBW after driving it on my recommendation. Scared the hell out of me that she bought it, knowing that if it didn't match up to the Hondas in her estimation I'd be on the hook in a big way - but she loves it. Told me it's the best car she's ever owned, so I'm thrilled that not only is she happy with it but that I made the right choice ;)

Have you ever seen the Mitsubishi dragon Z? Well i kinda like those too. if i ever came across a Vivio i would drive it to see what it's like.

So you turned your mom into a Soob person. Wish i could do that with my parents. My moms really want a 2007 Toyota FJ. IDK? I think if she gets one it will have alot of issues. I keep telling my mom and dad to get a Subaru for another can when they get rid of ther 99 Blazer S-10. But that's probely not for a long time now..

Cheers Tom

Yeah but what do you think parts cost and how hard it is to fix it?? I never really got close to one yet Like under ther hood and such but maybe it is a good vehicle.. I know it can go on trails really good, But my parents would't bother. my dad thinks taking a vehicle trail rideing is beating it.? Trail rideing is just seeing what the vehicle can do and have some fun. I'd do!

I guess having a Toyota is the closest thing to a soob. No one in my family (Mom-Dad) don't really like Subaru's? I think it is that they don't understand them, My dad kinda thinks it's a POS car that can't do anything:mad: But there will be a day when that blazer gets stuck or just totely breaks down while my car is still going strong on to 250,000..

Nice thing about new cars. Warrenty's. And, yeah, toyota parts arn't cheap, but subaru parts, at least around here, sure ain't cheap either!

Yeah i guess it's all expensive.. And yeah i don't think the Warrenty thing matters because ok some parts might be coverd, but them my dad does the work. Unless it's something really bad like tranny issuse's (We don't have a case opener) I still wouldent get it... That's me.

Yeah i know, But it's like you don't really trust what they do. but i guess if it's on warranty and you don't like ther work you can take it back and have it done right.. But they probely won't get a brand new one anyway. It's best to wait a year or two then everything bad that could happen did already.
