TheYeti
Last night after work, my wife and I were driving home. My cell phone rings and wife answers; it is Shawn. He talks to my wife for a few minutes and she is rolling her eyes and sort of giggling under her breath. Driving along I wonder what sort of car-fix drug he will be trying to peddle on me this time. The light at the intersection turns red. I stop and wife hands me the phone. Shawnzie has a bead on an old hatch. "It's that dark blue color" he tells me. I try to explain that I just aquired a Brat and probably shouldn't push my luck with wife. He insists that we go and "at least take a look". Ok. I discuss with wife. She says, it will be up to me... Ruh roh! I meet up with Shawn. I explain that this thing will need to be immaculate if I am to buy it. My couch is crammed in my parent's garage until closing later this week, and a floor just isn't that comfortable. We get to the house and I see the hatch. As we get closer, I sense a Pavlonian response. I keep a sleeve handy for fear of causing the first signs of rust! Yes, there is NO rust on this thing! I even checked the "water retainers" inside the fenders. No luck. I am forced to keep looking! I look inside and there isn't a single crack in the seats or the console or the back or the headliner or the... you get the idea. The ticker is ribbing me: "hey look at me! Only 88k, suckerfish!" I ask for the keys, "praying" I will be able to find some excuse to.... uhm, not buy it at this point. I failed... I offered $1000. The owner said "sure"! I drove home and showed the wife. Her initial response was, "it better be something special since we are closing on OUR new house Wednesday!" I didn't sleep on the floor or a couch last night. Just had to share. archemitis
thats the one good thing about BRATs being expensive, all other ea81s are cheap and undesirable
subyrally
thats the one good thing about BRATs being expensive, all other ea81s are cheap and undesirable lol, thats soo true. granted, the purchase price of mine wasnt very much $350, but the repair costs are rising, good thing ive done the work myself thus far. once i get the car drivable, the cost is going to get higher since ill be able to transport it to various shops. TheYeti
Btw, the front seat travel in this thing is a little short! DeMoss, you job is going to be helping me to find some older 02-03 OR some newer 04 WRX seats. I also need to install the NGK ingnition wires and MSD coil sometime after the weekend move into the new house. Saturday, 9:30am at my parent's house for those that are interested in helping. Give me a ring and I will get you directions.
ShawnW
He only posts on USMB to brag about new cars he aquires and to ask people to help him move. What a dork! (with a cool wife that puts up with an old man with old roos) IMO the hatch patrol allows anybody with a willingness to wheel a Subie to "join" and joining meant showing up at a 4x4'ing meet. Was and is that way in WA state and should be here.
