The one after the catyletic converter is leaking, and when I pulled it apart it looked like there wasn't ever a gasket in there. If idon't use gaskets, then how can I seal it up? Generally you can get away with it on turbo'd cars cos the turbo itself provides enough back pressure Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
GeneralDisorder Posted December 2, 2007 Share Posted December 2, 2007 They used a mesh impregnated, lead "donut" for the y-pipe to mid-pipe flange. They are about $12 or so from the dealer. Make sure that the mating surfaces are clean, straight, smooth and free of rust, and make SURE you use the spring loaded bolts that are stock for this flange. When I took it apart this afternoon, there wasn't any kind of gasket there at all. I'll see if the dealer in town can order a gasket on monday, need to get y-pipe gaskets also. Ben I was just going to ask this. the pipe isn't leaking there, but I need to pull it apart to cut the muffler off and weld the straight pipe to it.
