Ah yes - what a weird car for Maryland. A bit unique due to:

 

1. First model EVER with SPFI. 85 2WD GL's had MPFI.

 

2. Every option EXCEPT 4WD?!? Silly IMO, but they made em.

 

Very nice body though, and with a bit of swappage it could be very cool. Sad that it's an auto - probably grandma's car.

 

The sellers are over-generous with extolling it's rareness - stuff like that gets found all the time and doubtless more will turn up in the comming years as the elderly die off. My grandmother has a 93 Buick with 40k that has been started twice a week for the last 3 years but hasn't moved from the garage more than twice in that time - she can't drive due to her eyesight.

I have always been more of an EA81 fan than an EA82 fan but all i can say is wow. That things is gorgeous. I would buy it in a heartbeat..do a 5 speed swap on it and be done.

The only things on that car that jumped out at me as being old were the faded door handles and the bumpers/trim running down the side of the car looking a bit wonky in places. I also have to say it's a bit of a shame. That car could be just as reliable of a runner with 8 times the miles on it.

Dittoes on the 5 speed swap. i automatically dont like automatics. stupid 4000 rpm at 55 mph, arrrrggg, maby slap a rear diff in it. ive never seen a cruse cont unit in one, cool

My plain, carbed 85 sedan had factory CC. And my 84 wagon (EA81) did too. Both were factory 5 speed's.

Actually, GD, I have seen a total of four GL-10s in person, and they were ALL FWD 3AT! Seems to me that they sold alot of those to people who wanted as much "cushy" as they could squeeze out of Subaru-of-the-1980s. Note that its non-turbo, as well.

 

I think you were the one who summed it up best by saying that GL-10 is basically the "loaded" option package; when you said it, it really brought it home to me that the power and drivetrain "options" were simply excluded from that. They used RX badging for the "loaded 'power' option package."

 

 

What a beauty of an engine bay.. BUT, it looks like it has been recently detailed under the hood. There is a subtle difference between "stayed THIS clean" and "just got it THIS clean" and that looks like it may be the latter. I am not saying it is something to beware of, but I always try to notice whether a used car has been polished to be as pretty as possible already, or whether some more elbow grease might make it shine more.... and that one looks like it has had all the care that elbow grease can give it.
