SUBARU3
OK.....beating a dead horse here. Will a 1995 EJ 2.2 engine be a drop in replacement, or should I say the BEST drop in replacement, for an EJ 2.5, 1998 Forester? No exhaust or wiring issues? Thanks!! idosubaru
yes on the beating a dead horse close on the 95 EJ22 - you'll want a 95 EJ22 automatic (manuals are highly unlikely to have EGR). like you're suggesting and to clarify for others later...other years are easily compatible by just swapping the exhaust header as well...which already gets unbolted anyway with an engine swap. if two extra bolts and one extra part add anything significant to an engine swap then that's one bizarre mechanic! options are good. gbrand
According to http://www.obdii.com/connector.html the 2.2 from an auto is OBDII compliant, so may make easier with sensors, wiring ECU than from a manual. Haven't done a engine swap of a different type in far too many years, so can't help much on details. If you need help, let me know, my company just moved to just south of DFW airport so I drive thru Euless every day.
