waimaks
Ok, So I got talking to a light aircraft guy a few weeks back about the Subaru motors he uses. I was mostly trying to find some EA81 Dualcarb bits from somewhere. He said he didn't know much about the DC motors (or barely heard of them), but he was all on about the EA81T and how hard they were to find. He then went on to say he had a few Vortex's (ea82t), and that he planned to make an ea81t out of an ea81 block with ea82 heads, intake, dizzy etc. So to sum up what he said, if you use the EA81 valve gear on ea82 (MPFI in his case) heads, with an ea82 dizzy & intake (+ turbo if you like) You can have something kinda neet... Now bare in mind I havn't had either of these engines apart myself so Heres where I hope someone can clear a few bits up for me... EA82 heads are better flowing than ea81 right? (dispite the obvious cam differences) He'd also said that to use the pushrod system on the ea82 heads, you'd need to machine some (already exsisting) holes out for the lifters & whatnot. He said the EA81 lifter & rocker stuff would then work on the ea82 heads. This is minus the cam towers I assume? The main advantage he was trying to do this was to get MPFI affordably on an ea81 for turbo'ing. I just want to know if any of this makes scence and if its even remotely possible? Its the first I've heard of such an idea.
