Where can you get this scoop?

Recommended Posts

I mentioned this on another thread, but I really want to know so I'm asking directly...

I have searched here for hours, but the best I can find are vague references to eBay, and I'm sure as hell not finding this style scoop there, again, after many hours of searching. I don't like the cheap ones for sale on ebay right now, and I don't want to mess with shortening a WRX scoop.

So, where can I get one of these scoops?

That appears to be the same scoop as what is on my '91 Sport Sedan.

I suppose you could section a hood and patch the scoop and the surrounding metal in, but beware my hood is aluminum, the two (aluminum + steel) don't mix too well, and will be a constant source of irritation.

No, it's not an SS scoop. Ask Calebz - that's his car afterall.

GD

I did, but being the "patient" guy that I am, I couldn't wait for his response. He did respond now, and did tell me what I had already figured. It was found on ebay, and it is a shorter version of the wrx scoop. Trouble is, I can't find it on ebay.

Jon in Ky, any chance of some photos? I'll pm you.

Jesus...

After spending about 4 hours last night (seriously, ask my angry wife!) searching ebay for a "hood scoop" without any success, guess what I found tonight?

Yep, the "Calebz scoop".

I feel like I should clue you all in, since the truly dedicated will find it anyway, and thus I can save the next guy like 4 hours of searching.

On the other hand, maybe calebz had a point way back when... If you tell everyone, then everyone will have that same hood scoop on their ea82.

Maybe I should just keep it to myself?

Come on, I'm not that much of a d*ck! You guys have helped me out like crazy so far, I'm going to give back anything I possibly can!

I found it by searching for turbo hood scoop (instead of just "hood scoop"... duh, forehead slapping moment there!), and got a whole page of results. The seller I'm getting mine from is zomkspeed, and they also list another kind of scoop that looks like it would work really well on the EA82T hood too. I didn't see that one until after I speed-purchased the first one of the WRX-copy I could find, but I probably wouldn't have gone with it anyway. The Calebz-style is the only one that looks good to me, hence my enthusiasm to find it. Plus, the wrx style looks way more functional for actually grabbing air and forcing it down onto the IC, which really is the only thing that matters anyway. The one I got was $25.99 shipped.

Hell, maybe It'll become so popular, the ricers will think it was a rare factory option, and begin fearing the turbo wagons when they come rolling down the street. :headbang: All I know is when I head back to Texas, I'll be the only ea82t wagon in probably the whole town, so my surfmobile will be unique regardless.

That's the one I got... Looks EXACTLY like the Viper they show as an example, don't you think?

Anyway, here's the other one they offer, and it looks like it would probably be nice too:

Totally different scoop, but it looks exactly the same on that Viper... They must have really good body guys.

But seriously, that looks like a nice alternative as well.

that was funny. i was a bit annoyed you weren't going to share considering the efforts some have put in distributing information and the lack of it from others. so yeah, funny stuff. but you don't have to worry, not many people will do this. if 50 people do it (which they won't) that's still only 1 per state.

wow, 4 hours. do something nice for your wife out of appreciation for tolerating that, like a 30 minute back massage or something. $25.00 is a nice price. people pay $100+ for scoops on ebay and such, i've sold some for that much before.

What town?

If it is anywhere in north texas, I can almost guarantee that there won't be a lot of other EA82T wagons, sedans or otherwise. Over the past 4.5 years, I have purchased, stripped and crushed nearly every one in a 300 mile radius

Oh - I may still have one;)

Thats the one on that white wagon up top.

In case anyone was wondering. :)

That has happened. I pulled up to a friend's apartment. Some dude was on the second floor balcony with his woman. While getting a bunch of crap out of my car, I heard him, in his most wise sounding voice tell her all about my car and the moster turbo it comes with and the factory hood scoop - and all sorts of other neat details I was unaware of. I was pretty pissed by the time he was done. If all this cool stuff came stock, how come I have had to spend so much damned time working on mine?
