discopotato03
Hi all , it seems 86 model EA82 carb pistons are 8.7 CR . I'm told they have a dish something like EA82T pistons do but not as deep . Can anyone possibly help me out with pics or part numbers for these pistons . Thanks in advance , cheers Adrian in Australia .

GeneralDisorder
EA81 carb pistons are 8.7 GD
discopotato03
Someone here in Australia mentioned that in 1986 only there was an NA version of the EA82 with 8.6 CR pistons , does anyone know anything about these ? I suspect that there is some confusion between EA81 and EA82 pistons and the 8.5 to 8.7 CR range are possibly carby 8.7 CR ones . Can someone tell me for sure if EA81 pistons fit and work in EA82T engines because some would like more than 7.7 and less than 9.0 CR . Cheers Adrian in Australia . GeneralDisorder
All of them will fit, but the non-turbo pistons will not handle much boost. Collapsed ring lands are usually the result. Additionally the EA81 pistons will not have the valve cut-outs that the EA82 pistons have so in the event of a timing belt failure you will have piston/valve contact. Invest in forged pistons if you are looking for higher boost - non of the stock stuff is worth the trouble. GD
