TeamCF
Oh man. I can't make it on the 31st. Proly gonna go out on the 1st with some Jeep guys to Wildcat though for a hangover run. Probably. Not much at Wildcat but it's more of a simple quick run. Sorry I didn't get your message early enough this morning. I was still sleeping and the phone was turned to silent. And I was still in portland without my subie.

TeamCF
We try to wheel as much as we can. We've yet to have the schedules of all that wheel down here to allow all of us to go at the same time. I'm sure it will happen though. So Scooby, Let me know. Like I was sayin' I was planning on going up to WildCat with some Jeep guys meeting at Shorty's corner at 8/8:30. Wildcat does not have much but it's fun to play round there a little. Or we could just go somewhere else. I'm not 100% tied to going with the Jeeps. And as you scoped out, the mountain is a zoo. And I'm sure on the 1st it will be just as bad up there. So we might want to just stay away from there. So We gotta figure out where to go. I'm gonna try to get my sube ready today so I can just roll out in the morning. Hopefully a couple more peeps see this and can make it.
TeamCF
Well crap. Just heard that Wildcat is all locked up. And they have game cameras getting plate numbers of violators. Not sure of the truth but it's what I heard. So the Jeep guys are splitting up and hitting TSF and Goat.
TeamCF
I just got back from a recon run up Wildcat. Sorry to admit I didn't make it to the top/gravel pit area. But there were lots of tracks going up. All the side gates are closed but they always are. I made it about halfway up Wildcat Mt. drive. Then the snow just got too icy and packed in. Got to the point I was dragging chassis all the way and figured digging myself off of a big ice chunk was not how I wanted to spend my day. I'm sure it gets more powdery further up, but I just turned it around. Bigger meats and such would have made it cake. So it was just ice bash/ high center city up there. And I don't want to spend my day tomarrow digging my sube out every ten feet. I'm sure most low snow will be the same. So we need options. Maybe try to stay below snow level if we can. As the transtion sucks. But most the good wheeling is up high. (huh, almost all of the wheeling is up high)
scoobyclimbs
Happy New years! Looks like TSF might be our best bet as the East winds are hitting the gorge hard... I got my R/F wheel bearings and seals done the last day of the year...So I'm ready to roll in the new year..

I think any wheeling out this way would be asking for blowdown on the roof. So yeah I'm up. Just need to check some fluids on the sube and I'll give ya a call in a few. Then we can figure out a meeting spot.

I'll have to pass this along to Scooby when I get ahold of him. I think we were gonna go to TSF mainly cause of the high winds around here right now. Don't know what it's like around Goat. All I know is when you get to snow level it turns nasty and icy.
chazmataz
ya, it might be but i'm going to go and check it out. not sure if i want to drive clear to TSF today, Goats close and if it nasty ill just go over to my parents and visit with them and may check out my 84 wagon to make sure it hasn't frozen yet. my schedule is a little more open now so if i don't end up seeing you guys today then we'll be hitting the trails together next time. HEY BTW. Happy New Year!

HEY BTW. Happy New Year! Happy New Year! Yeah I guess We're gonna stick with wheeling over near Newberg/McMinnville, and maybe head over to TSF. Scooby knows (lives in) that area and says there's not much wind and we can check out some lower elevation trails. We'll have plenty of chances to wheel I'm sure. I know Mike wants to get back out in a couple weeks as well. Well I'd better get over there.

scoobyclimbs
Team CF and I headed up Peavine mtn..just outside of McMinneville. We had some nice views of Hood and Jefferson...it was rather slick in places and some pretty soft wet snow... We came around this bend and a couple managed to slide there Bronco into a nasty ditch... ..Of course we stopped and tried to get them out..some bad luck for their outting...the linkage was broken on their trans:dead: so they had no power....We made a valiant effort to get them unstuck....but slippery conditons made it difficult...Along comes an F250 4x4 diesel with M/t's and we got them out ok...they had friend come up and meet them..so we headed up as far as we could...it was fun just to get out... Happy New years!

Good to hear it wasn't as bad as I thought over there. With the east winds though I kinda figured that Goat would block most of it if ya didn't go up too high. I need more action shots too. Wanna get some good hillclimb vids and such as well. I tend to get alot of "still" shots of the Sube parked in odd places but none of it on the move. chazmataz
Did you make it up goat mtn No but im sure we could have. if people wouldn't have broken down so early. there was 10 of us and 3 jeeps, 2 toyotas, a sami, chopped fullsize monster truck chevy, me, a stocker bronco II and a stocker early 80's full size ford truck. all 3 jeeps broke something so once they we're done we all headed back down. TeamCF
Been seing other reports of hangover runs from Goat and Wildcat. All pretty much the same. a few feet of snow but the roads/trails were packed in from all the rigs. So as long as you stayed on the tracks you were fine. But I've seen pics of guys that let a tire go of into the soft stuff. Then you see an entire 36in tire disappear.
