Gene J
I remember reading somewhere we should not use petroleum based lube for the brake sliders because it will cause the rubber parts to swell. What else is there???

Strakes
I don't know about the swelling that you're talking about. I recommend any brake specific grease/lubricant. Make sure it's brake specific. They are readily available at the local parts store. I have used and have been satisfied with both AGS Sil-Glyde brake lubricant and CRC's Sta-lube brake lubricant. OB99W
[...]ps make any ridges or grooves in sliders smooth with file, grinder or my personality for best action and longest pad lifeAre you really that abrasive? I don't know about the swelling that you're talking about.[...]Petroleum will cause many rubber compounds to swell and/or soften. Therefore, lubricants designed for brake calipers don't tend to have a petroleum base, although there may be a limited amount of petroleum content to help keep the rubber parts from hardening. Sil-Glide is silicone-based, and as far as I know, the Sta-Lube product for brakes is mostly synthetic.
