idosubaru
What years Legacy seats are interchangeable for a 1996 LSi Sedan? I have 1996 Legacy LSi leather seats and wouldn't mind picking up a nicer drivers side leather seat...maybe even heated ones. The junk yards list the 1996 as the only suitable replacement, I don' think that's it though. Are there different color leather seats? (dark/light)? The wagon and sedans may have different rear seats? Are the door panels interchangeable too across what years? And are sedans/wagon fronts the same? subaru360
All 95-99 front seats are the same. The wagon has a different rear seat than the sedan. 95-99 door panels will interchange but the 98-99 switches mount slightly different. If you get the panel with switches or are creative it works. john in KY
Gary, I have 2002 LL Bean edition leather seats in my 95. Bolted right in except one of the inside rear mounting holes is not used, and had to reuse the 95 seat belts. Still have the door panels and rear seat. Panels are different and never saw a need to replace the rear seat because I never ride back there. Forgot to mention, 8-way power and heated. eagleb
I swapped my 96 cloth with 99 heated leather, the only thing that didnt work was the 99 seatbelt buckle. Make sure you keep your original seatbelt and buckle combination with the new seats.
idosubaru
Forgot to mention, 8-way power and heated.great, thanks john. was the 8-way wiring already in place in your 95 or did you have to retrofit that? what models have the power movable seats? thanks guys. JT95
Thanks for the info...even though I didn't ask for it. I'm wanting to replace the leather buckets in my '95 LSi soon, so that's good to know. I think my car had just about every option except heated seats, although I think the plug for them is under there, sticking through the carpet, so maybe I'll look fr heated... Anyway, I figured it would be hard to find older leather seats in good shape, so I'm excited to hear someone has put newer ones up front w/ success. Mine don't actually look that bad overall--it's just the drivers seat has that worn crackly patch on the left side of it that just looks bad because of the white. Is there a product that I could use to "restore" the color on just that spot???
idosubaru
a friend of mine was talking about some kind of die for his leather in his landcruiser. don't know where he was planning on getting it but it wouldn't be hard to search for "leather die" or something similar in the phone book or call/stop in at a couple body shops as you drive around. I have seen dyed leather seats. It was not a pretty sight. It looked like liquid had been spilled onto the seat. Suggest replacing the seat for a much better look. WJM
Pretty much any 1989~2007 subaru seat will interchange...Legacy, impreza, forester, baja. I have EVO VIII seats in my 96 Outback, they are sitting on WRX adapters. I had 2002 WRX seats in it, they sat up too much. Before that I had 1999~2001 RS seats that worked fine but were not supportive enough for me. Tribeca, Leone/Loyale, XT, justy...not so much.
