Crazy_man_subie
ok we just had a big flood where i live i found an 88 XT MPFI 2WD 5Speed for $100. after $100 in parts (motor flush, oil, filters, cap, rotor, plugs, Heat, fuel ) car runs good (idles at 2k but it runs). well now that it runs i want to have some fun with it. i have as a donor car a 86 gl Wagon with a 4WD DR 5Speed. what i need to know is 1. Will it Fit? 2. Do i need a drive line from an XT or will a sedan work 3. is the clutch the same?
GeneralDisorder
1. Will it Fit? Sure. For the most part it will fit. 2. Do i need a drive line from an XT or will a sedan work The wagon driveline probably will fit. But the real problem is going to be the rear end..... that you don't have. I am not sure that an XT uses the same rear end. And I don't know if the XT has the correct fuel tank. You need to get under it and start comparing. XT's are a different beast in a lot of ways. Unlike other EA82's. 3. is the clutch the same? No - you will need the 4WD clutch and flywheel. GD

GD all of the parts will fit the rear end is the same the gas tank is the same xt's are all ea82 motor and driveline wise. the body floorpan is most similar to sedans or coupes(like the rear cargo holds and rollpan" use the clutch and flywheel from the donor car along with its tranny the xt will not have a mount for the center carrier bearing on the diriveshft. as would be with any fwd ea82 the same rules would apply for the standard 4wd swap. the only exception with the xt is you will need a pedal box off amnother xt, but only if its an automatic. you may have to swap the clutch cable itself because the w2wd vs 4wd has different lenght thread. the hill holder will hook up the same
