According to the pressure gauge I installed under the hood of my car, it's around 30 psi at idle and goes almost up to 40 psi under acceleration. If you briefly pinch the fuel hose downstream of the pressure gauge, a good working pump will up the pressure to around 60-65 psi. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For '96 Legacy 2.2 n/a anyway, it says: Specifications, Fuel Pressure: Unregulated (33 - 40 psi) Regulated (23 - 30 psi) I believe 'unregulated' means full throttle (nearly zero vacuum), and 'regulated' means non full throttle (varying vacuum). Yes I have seen blocking the fuel return hose even for a split second jumps the pressure to 60-65psi. I believe the fuel pump has an internal pressure relief to prevent damage if any lines are blocked. Wet shot FTW! Wet is how I went. I heard a lot of good things about spraying the fuel in. Especially since the spray is going into an engine not designed for performance. Anyone know the upper limit of what these EJ's can handle? Not to jinx myself, but what would be the weakest component that'd break first? Connecting rod, head gasket, piston rings?
