Uberoo
on my EA81 toy,(which I just found out is/was a 1983) the shifting is really sloppy.I remember all to well when I tried to fix sloppy shifting and that really didn't work to well. But on my toy the plate that covers the shifter hole is not there so it goes in reverse I just have to smash the shifter into the tranny to get there.would it be bad to hold the shifter as far to the left as possible in first and put a couple of welds on the shifter output on the trans?I dont plan on removing the gearbox ever from it.so would that be ok? Skip
UB, man are you sure you cut the slot long enough when attempting the fix? Did you use a 8mm nut and bolt to clamp it? If you want to weld something look up my short shifter mod for the shifter. My Brat is tight and short (I did not shorten the lever) I've had it like this for two years -> no slop.
