Cold weather Speedo Failure - 91 legacy

Recommended Posts

Well, I was just chuckling over the posts about noisy speedo cables in cold weather - mine does it too! Well, this morning mine stopped making the noise - when the speedo stopped working completely.

I don't find a replacement cable anywhere at the online parts places - about to start calling around the local parts stores. There is also nothing in the Haynes book about replacing it. Anyone have experience with this? It's a turbo, auto trans - does it even have a cable? Hmmm-

I'm about to suit up and go crawl under and look - at least it's above zero today!

no need to crawl under

Looking down from the pass side hood hinge.

you may have to remove some of the turbo ect. plumbing

to see it

The front "well" where you see the screw slot

is where the cable connects to the diff.

The rear location (finger point ) is for

the manual tranny connection.

Hope this helps

Skip, you are the best. Sorry I didn't reply earlier - my rural internet went out for a day in the storm.

You do indeed rock! Photos and everything! Thanks a bunch.

I found, and pulled the cable - it seems to have just come loose- I put it back in and it works, but it vibrates a bit - oh well - good thing, 'cause noplace seems to have a replacement except the dealer...

Thanks again bro!

You are most welcome, sir, glad it helped.

Some graphite lube (like for door locks) can

help the noise and vibration.

I'd like to add, it is way kewl of you guys to say "thanks"!

Many miles of smiles in your Su Bar Ru.
