Uberoo
Um my 1983 GL likes to stall if I come to a stop with it in neutral.anything above 1000 RPM is no problem.anything below that and sometimes it will run and continue idling other times it will slowly start to bog down and then just die.How can I set the idle up to around 1000RPM rather than 700 that its at now? Also for some reason if the car has sat for a while without being run I have to prime the carb by pouring in a bit of gas(or other flamible liquid like butane, propane,Mixed 2 stroke gas, etc). Then after that it will run.after it stalls I just have to start it and it goes but before-like when you start it for the first time of a day.Without priming it will crank forever and not kick into life.Any idea as to what my be causing that issue?its not to bad although jumpering the starter is kinda fun when you accidentally spilled gas on your hands... So how can I set the idle up and will the issue with having to prime the carb go away after some new gas and carb cleaner has been run though a bit?If I have to get a new carb to fix a minor problem...eh I can deal with having to prime the carb...Thanks in advance. [HTi]Johnson
Check the fuel filters....there's 2. One in the engine bay and one in front of the passenger rear tire, next to the fuel pump. On top of a protective plate. REplace those and see if it helps. But if you're going to run gas cleaner through the gas, I'd get another set of filters so you can replace the new ones after you run the cleaner through the tank of gas. Because the cleaner will cause some crud to get loose and go straight into the filter. Adjusting the idle isn't going to fix it, just masks the problem.
