rick_hake
I have a 93 Loyale, and the owners manual says that there is a warning light in the instrument panel that comes on when the car is low on fuel. It says at the point the light comes on there is 2.4 gallons remaining in the tank. My question is does anyone have any experience validating the fact that there is that much fuel remaining? I guess I could carry a couple of gallons with me in a spare tank and run it out of gas to check it, but thought I would check an see if anyone knows for sure. Thanks for any help Rick
hooziewhatsit
I now know two things about my 91 loyale. - The low fuel light does not work - The useable fuel tank capacity is 15.1 gallons, not the rated 16 gallons for the tank -Dave
Ross
I've generally found it to be closer to 5 litres, or a bit over 1 US gallon after the light goes on till you start having trouble. Varies a fair bit car to car though....
GeneralDisorder
The EA82 low fuel light's often do not work. It's a common issue with them. It's often a grounding issue with the sender. The light is an "interpretation" of the resistance from the sender. If the resistance is off then the light may never come on. GD
The Beast I Drive
Ive squeezed almost 17 gallons in my GL wagon, and before I lifted it I could go about 60 miles on the empty light
GeneralDisorder
Ive squeezed almost 17 gallons in my GL wagon Then there's a hole in your tank because no GL ever came with a tank over 16 gallons. GD
The Beast I Drive
I do tend to fill way up into the filler neck, so that could be it. I know the only rig I have with a gas tank leak is my Chevy.
cd45
That is where mine came on the other day. I had about 2 gallons left. Mine is a 1987 GL Wagon.

markman34
I've driven 100 km or more with the 'low fuel' light on many times. I'd start to worry if I had much farther than that to the next station though. These cars are so good on gas, it's easy to overlook filling them up. My best is 800 km on one fill!
