Caboobaroo
So today I started the fun of stuffing my set of '05 STi seats into my car. Actually not too bad considering I didn't know what to expect. Pic will come when I do the driver seat since I was too busy trying to get the passenger side to work. I started off by removing the seat rails from both the RX seat and the STi seat. Since the RX seat rails are bolted vertically to the floor and the STi rails are bolted parallel to the floor of the car, I had to make some tabs that I later welded to the RX seat rails. I made 4 tabs that would be welded to the RX rails but of course, had to take the seat in and out a few times in order to get the height right, along with making it level. The seat back is much taller then the RX seat but the base only sits maybe 1/2" higher then stock. Had one of the guys from work try it out (6'5", 250lbs.) and he had to recline the seat back pretty far but said it didn't feel like it was really sitting too high. Also discovered that in order to do this to the driver seat, you need the seat rails from a non GL-10 or RX seat, you know, the one with the height adjuster that telescopes from the side. It directly connects to the seat rails and well, isn't needed. Granted you can keep it but there's no real point in keeping it since the seat will be the 1/2" higher and the back of the seat might actually hit the roof of the car. Jerry DeMoss
Nice Russ! The fitment of your sti seats looks pretty similar to my wrx seats in my hatch. I know that after you have the seats in there it will be like driving a completely different car.

Ranging from '85-'96 is more like the span. The shift knob you see for the 4wd selector is on a short throw (and cut down) FT4wd shift linkage for the '87 RX tranny. The knob is however from a '85 GL-10 turbo sedan with dual range 5-speed (same car the checkerboard seats are from). It is however cut down about 4" or so. Suspension/brakes is made up of '91 XT6, '89 RX, and '96 Impreza pieces. Engine is from another '87 IIRC and well, you get the idea.

kingbobdole
Didja get the driver's into the car yet? My scheme was to cut the "feet" offa the stock rails and weld them to the sti rails. lika so But then they were to high for my XT so I cut into the car where the seat bolted and lowered that... it was quite the pain..... Caboobaroo
Not yet, I'm still trying to get a set of seat rails from a non height adjustment driver seat. It'll go in the same way as the passenger side though. I found that doing it this way made it sit lower then if I tried to modify the STi rails instead.
